Katie, Head RVT:

Katie is our Head RVT (Registered Veterinary Technician).  She obtained her degree through A-B Tech, and became registered in September 2013.  We were fortunate to have her do her externship that summer and she’s been an official part of our team since August 2013. As our Head Tech, she works to ensure your pet benefits from the most current skills and knowledge available to provide him/her the best experience possible.

She was born and raised in Asheville.  She has one dog, June Carter, a beagle mix.  Her heart belongs to animal rescue and has a special place for Pit bulls. Her free time is spent with her husband, Cody, daughter Hazel (born in the summer of 2019) and their dog. They enjoy taking long walks at the Biltmore Estate and when they get home Carter gets to enjoy peanut butter bones or stuffed kongs.  Carter is a rescue and runs her life – she wouldn’t want it any other way.

 Stephanie, Office Manager:

Stephanie, moved from California in 2011 with her handsome orange tabby, Reese.  Since her move, they’ve found home in beautiful Asheville. She also adopted a second orange tabby, Aidan and in April of 2013 her gorgeous, happy boy, Declan was born. For Declan's fifth birthday, they adopted 2 Border Collie Mix puppies: Isla and Thor.  Stephanie has a degree in sound arts and worked in the financial industry for six years. Recognizing her personal need to make a difference, she changed careers to join Pinnacle when we first opened.  She is our office manager, and strives to learn more each day about caring for your pets.

When not working, Stephanie spends time reading, baking, kayaking on the lake and spending time with Declan and their fur babies.  When she’s at work, her goal is to ensure that your pet receives superior care, and that your experience at Pinnacle is the best it can be.

Sam, Animal Care Attendant:

A Florida native, Sam moved to Asheville in 2016, and joined us at Pinnacle Animal Hospital in June, 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic having seen firsthand the care and compassion that is provided to our clients & patients when she brought her gecko in.  She is ecstatic to be able to provide that same great care to each of our clients over the phone, and looks forward to being able to meet clients face to face in the coming months and years.

In April of 2022, Sam met a retired racing Greyhound, formerly known in both Jacksonville & West Virginia as "Shismar". The former canine athlete stole her heart and HAD to come home. Today, Shismar goes by Toulouse and frequently attends play dates with other Asheville Greyhounds, often organized by Sam herself.

When not working, Sam enjoys spending time with Toulouse & other critters, exploring flea markets, and going to live performances of all kinds.

Katie loves animals of all kinds but wildlife, rodents, and reptiles have her heart.

At home Katie has one tropical fish aquarium, a bearded dragon, Huxley, a gecko, Pete and two cats: Andy & Carl (our now retired hospital cat).

Amy, RVT:

Amy moved to Asheville from New York state in 2011 while seeking personal growth and new experiences, and has found the mountains of NC to be a very healing part of her journey. Soon after, she met her tabby cat Layla, and they have been best friends ever since.

Amy joined the Pinnacle Animal Hospital team after graduating Veterinary Technician School in Spring of 2016 from AB Tech. After doing a summer externship at the hospital, she became an official member of our team, and became a registered technician in January 2017. Amy combines her joy of connecting with animals and people to make our clients and their pets' feelings heard, and supported. She especially enjoys taking care of geriatric patients, and giving them the extra gentle care they need.

In Amy's spare time she likes going to flea markets looking for old treasures, spending time outside, taking care of her house plants, spending time with little kids, being silly, doing arts and crafts, eating delicious food, and curling up at home with a book.

Taylor, Receptionist

Taylor joined the Pinnacle Animal Hospital team in January 2022 following her move to the Asheville area from upstate New York. She moved down with her husband, TJ, and their 3 cats- Marley, Rory and Luna. The betta fish, Ziggy, also made the trip! She is right at home here in the mountains, having come from the Adirondacks, but appreciates the much milder winters!

Recently, Taylor was able to bring her horse Dream down from New York, and they’ve since added Merry Legs, a rescue pony, to the family.

Taylor looks forward to building long-lasting relationships built on trust and compassion with our clients and their pets. It’s her goal to ensure both the people and pets that seek our care feel valued and listened to.

When not at work, Taylor enjoys any and all outdoor activities including hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, and horseback riding. She also loves traveling, reading and spending time with her family.

Samantha, Receptionist

A North Carolina native, Samantha moved from Highlands to Asheville in 2018 for a change of pace. She has previously worked in human medicine. During the beginning of the pandemic, she worked for the Asheville Humane Society and found a desire to work in animal medicine. Animals being biologically similar to humans; she has found it to be more humbling working in animal medicine. Giving an animal a better chance at life and seeing how grateful they are is an emotional award daily. Animals have taught her how to be kinder and more respectful of our planet, and to be a better human.

During her time as the humane society, she adopted Zero – a derpy, fun loving, deaf dog. She also has a red-eared slider named Mr. Turtle (aka Raphael) and recently adopted Roy, an orange tabby.

Outside of work, Samantha enjoys spending time outdoors. Her favorite activities are hiking, foraging for wild mushrooms, reading non-fiction, listening to educational podcasts and discovering new music – jazz and blues being her favorites, gardening and yard work. Her ultimate pastime is spending time with her son and watching him blossom into an even more beautiful human as each day passes.

When she’s at work, she looks to learn more unique skills and knowledge of how to care for pets, and be able to share this with our clients, providing the ultimate wellbeing for all pets.
